Your AI chats
saved as Markdown

A Chrome extension that saves your AI chats to Obsidian or any folder,
and can send a copy to Notion, Google Drive or GitHub.

Works with

  • ChatGPT
  • Claude
  • Gemini
  • Copilot
  • Perplexity
  • Grok
  • DeepSeek
  • GitHub Copilot
01 Notion, Google Drive and GitHub

Every chat in Notion,
Drive and GitHub.

Connect Notion, Google Drive or GitHub and send every chat you’ve saved in one click. New chats follow on their own: a page in your Notion database, a Google Doc in a folder for each service, or a Markdown file in your own repository, with every change in its history.

  • Kept up to date. Continue a chat and its page, Doc or file changes with it. On GitHub, every version stays in the history.

  • All eight services in one place. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and the rest, side by side in one database, folder or repository.

  • Straight to your account. Sent from your browser to Notion, Google or GitHub. Never through our servers.

02 Saving

Saved on its own.
On a schedule, and when you leave a chat.

Keep chatting as you do now. New and changed chats from eight AI services are written to your folder on a schedule you pick, and you can save the open chat in one click.

Saved as soon as you leave a chat

Close the tab or move on to another chat, and the extension saves it to your folder right then, with the messages you just sent. No need to press Save or wait for the next check.

Save or copy from the chat page

A Save button next to Share in every chat, or Alt+Shift+SOption+Shift+S. Its menu opens the saved file, saves the chat as PDF or HTML, or copies the whole chat for another AI, so you can paste it there and carry on.

You decide how often it checks

It looks for new and changed chats every 3 hours unless you change it. Pick every 15 minutes, once a day, any interval in between, or set times like 9:00 and 18:00. You can also keep checks to work hours or weekdays only.

03 Organising

A folder for each service.
File names you choose.

Each service gets its own folder, and each project a folder inside it. Files are named the way you choose, on every service the same way.

  • Leave chats out. A chat with a word you pick in its title, or from a project you pick, is never saved.

  • Hide API keys and passwords. They are replaced with a label like [hidden: OpenAI key] before the file is written.

  • Properties and tags. Pick the details at the top of each file, such as model, dates and word count, and add your own tags.

  • Links in your daily note. Each Obsidian daily note gets links to the chats from that day.

  • A table of contents. One note that links to every saved chat, by service, project and month.

  • Change it any time. New settings apply to new chats. Apply to saved files renames the ones you already have.

04 Keeping

Every version, kept.
Deleted chats too.

Each file holds the whole chat, with its pictures, files and sources. When you continue the chat, the file is updated. When you delete it on the site, your copy stays.

Deleted on the site, kept on your disk

Delete a chat in ChatGPT, Claude or any of the eight services, and its file stays. The reader marks it, so you know it’s the only copy left.

Pictures and files come with it

Pictures the AI made, files you uploaded, code and sources are saved next to the chat. The reader lists them all in Files & links.

Every version of every chat, kept

Go back to a chat and keep talking, and its saved file is updated on its own, never copied. The version before is kept each time, up to 100 per chat. In the reader, Changes shows exactly which lines each update added or changed and when, like Git history for your chats. Your own edits to the file show up too, and any version can be copied back.

  • Your notes stay put. Write above or below the chat in its file. Updates only rewrite the chat part.

  • Code and artifacts. Code keeps its language. Claude’s artifacts and documents are saved as files next to the chat.

  • Thinking, folded. The model’s reasoning and its tool calls, like web searches, in a section you can open.

  • Canvas and research. ChatGPT Canvas and Deep Research, and Claude’s and Gemini’s research reports, are saved in the note.

  • Sources as footnotes. Web sources become numbered footnotes with their links, as in Perplexity and DeepSeek.

  • Edits and retries. Edited a question or asked for another answer? Turn on Earlier versions in Settings, and the other versions are kept, folded under the message.

05 History

Search every saved chat.
Read it in the extension.

Free saves 10 chats, from all services together, and keeps them up to date. Pro saves every chat, back to your very first one. Search and the reader come with every plan.

Read every chat as it was, right in the extension

Open any saved chat in the extension’s reader, straight from your folder. Formulas show as real math, pictures stay where the AI put them, and charts still work: point at one to read its numbers. Mermaid diagrams are drawn too. Search every chat by any word, switch to the Markdown file, or save a chat as PDF or HTML.

Search every saved chat

Click the extension and type. It looks through the titles and the full text of every saved chat, on all services at once. Read a result in the extension, or open the chat on its site.

Your whole history, not only new chatsPRO

Pro goes back through every service and saves all your older chats, down to the very first one. It runs on its own, and the popup shows how far it got.

Bring in all your old chats at oncePRO

Every AI service lets you download all your chats as an export. Drop it into the extension and every chat in it is saved to your folder.

  1. 11 Ask the service for your dataIn its settings, ask for an export. It’s ready right away or comes by email.
  2. 22 Drop the file into ImportThe ZIP as it came, no need to unzip it. It’s read on your computer, never uploaded.
  3. 33 Every chat is in your folderOne Markdown note per chat, next to the ones already saved. Nothing is saved twice.

Works with all 8 services

  • Easy on the chat sites. Older chats are saved 40 at a time, a minute apart, so no site sees a burst of requests.

  • Search stays on your computer. It reads the files in your folder, right there. What you type and find is never sent anywhere.

  • Open in Obsidian. If your folder is an Obsidian vault, a result opens straight in Obsidian. Or copy its path.

  • Deleted chats show up too. They are marked Deleted and open in the reader, since the site no longer has them.

  • Quick from the keyboard. In the popup, / jumps to search. Arrow keys move through the results, Enter opens one.

06 Privacy

Your chats stay on your computer.
We never see them.

Chat to Markdown runs inside your browser. It opens your chats the way the chat site does, turns them into Markdown and saves the files to your own folder. Nothing passes through our servers.

No passwords, no API keys
It uses the login you already have in Chrome, the same way the chat site loads your chats. It never sees your password.
Saved in a folder you choose
Plain Markdown files on your disk. Open, move, back up or delete them like any other file.
Nothing goes through us
Our server never gets a chat, a title or a file name. With Pro it knows your email and plan, nothing more. Free needs no account.
Notion, Drive and GitHub only if you connect them
Then your browser sends chats straight to your own account there, not through us.
Read the privacy policy
07 Setup

Two minutes to set up.
Then it runs on its own.

Add it to Chrome and it opens a short welcome page. Choose a folder, turn on the AI services you use, pin it to the toolbar and press Start saving. Your chats are in the folder a minute later.

  • Chrome or Edge. Add it from the Chrome Web Store. It works in Chrome 122 or newer and in Microsoft Edge.

  • No account for Free. Nothing to sign up for. You only sign in if you buy Pro.

  • The login you already have. It saves from the chat sites you’re signed in to. No API keys, no passwords to type.

  • Pick “Allow on every visit”. When Chrome asks about your folder. Then saving keeps going after you restart the browser.

  • One switch for each service. Turn on the ones you use. Chrome asks you to allow each site, and the extension reaches only those.

  • Then it runs on its own. New chats are saved every 3 hours, and as soon as you leave a chat. Change how often any time.

09 FAQ

Questions

Can’t find your answer? Write to [email protected]. A person reads every message.

Do my chats go through your servers?

No. The extension reads your chats with the login you already have in this browser and writes them straight to the folder you chose. Our server only knows your email and plan, and only if you sign in for Pro.

Does it work with Obsidian?

Yes, it was built for Obsidian. Pick a folder in your vault, such as AI Chats, and each service gets a folder inside it. Each file starts with frontmatter (title, source, model, dates, tags), which Obsidian shows as properties. If you choose to save the model’s thinking, it goes into a folded callout.

Which AI services does it work with?

ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, Perplexity, Grok, DeepSeek and GitHub Copilot. Each one gets its own folder. Turn on the ones you use, on the welcome page or in Settings → Chat services: Chrome asks you to allow each site, and the extension can reach only the sites you turned on.

What each one makes is kept: web sources as footnotes, pictures Grok, Gemini or ChatGPT made and the files you uploaded as real files, DeepSeek’s DeepThink reasoning, Claude’s artifacts, GitHub Copilot’s repository and file references as links, and Projects or Spaces as folders.

What does a saved chat look like?

One Markdown file per chat, for example AI Chats/ChatGPT/2026-10-17 Lisbon food trip.md. Your messages go under “## You” and the answers under the service’s name, such as “## ChatGPT” or “## Gemini”. Code stays in code blocks.

What happens when I continue a chat?

The same file is updated: no second copy, no repeated messages. Only the part between the two chattomarkdown markers is rewritten, so anything you write above or below it stays as you left it. The version from before is kept as well, so you can see what changed.

Can I see what changed in a chat?

Yes. Every time a chat’s file changes, the version before it is kept, up to 100 per chat, in a hidden .chattomarkdown/history folder inside your folder, which Obsidian and Finder don’t show. The reader in the extension lists the versions like a git log and shows a line-by-line diff: changed words highlighted, what a changed property was, and new messages labelled. It is free and on by default.

When does it check for new chats?

Every 3 hours unless you change it. In Settings you can pick anything from every 15 minutes to once a day, type your own interval, or set times such as 9:00 and 18:00. Checks can also run only between certain hours or on certain days, and Settings shows when the next one is. The Save button and saving when you leave a chat work right away, whatever the schedule.

Can I save only the chats I choose?

Yes. For any service, pick “Only chats I save” in the popup (the ⋯ on its card) or in Settings → Chat services. Then only the chats you save with the Save button are kept, and those stay up to date. Its other chats are never saved.

Can I pause saving for a while?

Yes. In the popup, open the menu next to Sync now and pause auto-save for an hour, until tomorrow or until you resume. Nothing is saved on its own while it is paused, and the Save button on a chat still works.

Can I read my chats without Obsidian?

Yes. The extension has its own reader. Its sidebar has search, a chip for each service and your chats grouped by day; it folds away with Ctrl+\⌘\ and can be dragged wider. A chat shows as Preview, Markdown or Changes, with panels for its files and links and its history. You can export it as PDF or HTML, there or from the Save menu on the chat page.

The toolbar button opens the popup. At the top, whether auto-save is on, when it last checked, Sync now and its menu to pause, then the folder, the schedule and the sync log. Below, a card for each service that is on: it opens the service in a new tab, says how it is doing, and its menu syncs it, shows its saved chats or picks what to save. Search finds any saved chat.

Can I keep a copy in Notion, Google Drive or GitHub?

Yes, connect any of them in Settings and send every saved chat in one click. New and continued chats follow on their own. Notion gets a database with a page for each chat. Google Drive gets a Google Doc or the Markdown file for each one, in a folder for each service. GitHub gets the Markdown files in a repository you choose, a few chats to a commit, so every change is in its history. Chats go from your browser straight to your own account, never through us.

Does it save Canvas and Deep Research?

Yes. A ChatGPT or Gemini Canvas is saved in the note: a code canvas as a code block in its language, a text canvas as its own section. Deep Research reports from ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity and Research reports from Claude are saved too, and their web sources become footnotes with links. Mermaid diagrams stay as code, so Obsidian draws them. All of this is in Free.

Can it keep earlier versions of a message?

Yes, on Free too. Turn on “Earlier versions” in Settings → What to save. When you edit a message or ask for a new answer, the other versions are kept in a folded section under it. It is off by default.

Can I hide API keys and passwords?

Yes. Turn on “Hide secrets” in Settings → What to save. API keys, tokens and passwords are masked before a chat is saved or copied, for example as [hidden: OpenAI key]. It is free and off by default.

Which browsers does it work in?

Chrome 122 or newer, and Microsoft Edge, on a computer. It needs a browser feature for writing to a folder (the File System Access API), which Firefox and Safari don’t have. Brave and other Chromium browsers usually work too.

What does Free include?

Every feature, for 10 chats from all 8 services together: automatic saving on your schedule, version history, images and files, deleted chats kept, saving when you leave a chat, your own file format, earlier versions, copying a chat as Markdown or for another AI, project folders, the reader and more. Those 10 chats are kept up to date for as long as you use it. It’s not a trial. Pro does all of it for every chat you’ve ever had.

How much is Pro?

$4 a month, or $39 once for lifetime access. See pricing for the full comparison.

Can I give my saved chats to another AI?

Yes. It packs one or more chats into a compact prompt that you can paste into another AI or a coding agent like Claude Code. On the chat page it is “Copy for another AI” in the Save menu; in the reader, “Copy as context”, for one chat or several.

Can I save a chat as PDF or HTML?

Yes. On the chat page, open the Save menu and pick Save as PDF or Save as HTML. The chat is saved to your folder first, then it opens in the reader: PDF goes to Chrome’s print preview, HTML downloads as one file with its pictures inside. Formulas, charts and diagrams come out as they look in the reader. In the reader itself, both are in the More menu.

What if a chat site changes and saving stops?

The extension tells you in its popup. From there you can check for an update, or use Report a problem: it copies diagnostics and opens an email to us. The diagnostics never include your chats or their titles.

Will the chat sites notice?

It reads chats the same way the sites do, with your own session. It also spaces out its requests: a long history is saved 40 chats at a time, a minute apart.

Every chat you’ve had, in a folder you own.

Markdown files from 8 AI chat services, saved on their own and kept up to date.
